Description The Camellia is distributed in Japan, China, and Korea.

The Camellia grows on the south coast or on the islands of Korea.

Its beautiful flowers blossom in early spring.

The Camellia is called "the Camellia in spring" or "the Camellia in fall" or "the Camellia in winter" according to the blossoming season.

The natural habitat of the Camellia in Daecheongdo Island is a good place for growing due to the sea current.

The illegal gathering of the Camellia is committed all over the country.

The Camellia forest in Daecheongdo Island is easily access.

Therefore, the site has been damaged.

Accroding to the record, about 60 years ago, there were 147 Camellias over 20cm in diameter.

However, nowadays, it is difficult to find a big tree. The natural habitat of Camellia in Daecheongdo Island is the northernmost habitat, where the Camellia is able to grow well under natural circumstance.

Since the site is valuable in biology, it is designated and protected as a natural monument.
