 Description Seonghwangnim(Shrine woods for local god)means a forest where a local god who protects the town lives.

The Shrine woods at Seongnam-ri, Wonseong, is a little far from the town.

The villagers in Seongnam-ri have believed the local god of Chiaksan Mountain to be their guardian.

They have performed a sacrificial ritual for the god wishing for the well-being and peace of the town twice a year on April 8th and September 9th.

Shrine wood at Seongnam-ri, Wonseong, has representative decidous trees of temperate regions and is also valuable biologically.

Therefore, it is designated and protected as a natural monument.
