| Description |
This plaited hairpiece was worn by the wife of Lee Dan-ha, a civil official of the mid-Joseon Dynasty, when she was dressed in her ceremonial robes.
Such hairpieces were worn by the wives of officials of the first rank.
They were made from real hair, either a woman¡¯s own or someone else¡¯s, which was plaited to create a large wig of sorts that was worn to create the keunmeori ("big hair") coiffure.
This hairpiece is 103cm long.
