A relic discovered in the tombs of Chae Mu-yeok and his wife, identified as Kim, when the tombs were removed from Mt.
Seokbyeong in Cheongwon-gun in spring of 1977.
Chae Mu-yeok (1537-1594), whose pen name was Sinchon, started his official career with a minor post in a local administration in 1555 during the reign of King Myeongjong of the Joseon Dynasty and served as an official of a government office in charge of guarding the crown prince.
He died in 1594 during the Imjin War (Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592).
Given that Kim died before the Imjin War, it is believed that the relics from her coffin were produced before the war.
This skirt with 2cm of pleats is composed of 12 pok, each of which measures 36cm in width.
